“I’ve got 9 months left to run before I qualify as a solicitor but because of the Covid19 pandemic my training contract has been terminated. What are my options?”

I’m really sorry to hear your training contract has been ended before you’ve qualified as a solicitor. And,  understandably, this must be a very distressing situation but thankfully all will not be lost because you may still be able to qualify through the following routes:

  • counting any work experience you’ve already gained and then completing your training with another organisation.
  • asking the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) admissions team to waive some or all of the time left in your training contract.
  • applying to the SRA to qualify through alternative means, whichis a way of recognising education and work-based learning that fall outside the normal routes to qualification. It allows you to show other ways you have met either the academic or vocational criteria to qualify as a solicitor.

Further information on all of the above please can be found on the Law Society website.
