I’ve been a graduate recruiter for over 25 years and began my career at one of the big four accountancy firms, PWC within graduate recruitment and generalist HR. I then spent 18 years as head of graduate recruitment and trainee development at legacy firm Nabarro (now CMS). During my time at Nabarro I am proud to have won numerous awards for our graduate recruitment and trainee initiatives, gaining recognition from within the legal sector and wider graduate recruitment industry.
I thoroughly enjoyed mentoring and supporting aspiring lawyers; seeing them develop and grow in confidence from my initial contact with them on campus all the way through to qualification. I have experience of mentoring countless young lawyers as they approached qualification and managed trainee recruitment and NQ retention at Nabarro during the 2008 financial crash.
I set up my own consultancy in 2015 and provide freelance graduate recruitment services to a wide range of organisations and continue to work with leading City law firms providing screening, interview and assessment centre support. In addition, I offer careers guidance to young professionals.
I’ve been an associate careers consultant with CheekyLittleCareers.com (CLC) since its inception in June 2020 and love the unique combination of careers guidance and wellbeing insights the website provides for the legal sector. I enjoy writing regular blogs, listening to the many insightful fireside chats with industry experts and co-hosting CLC events with editor Husnara Begum and associate executive coach Matt Verrell.
As a careers consultant I currently work with university students, SQE prep students and regularly conduct Law Society career clinics, supporting students and qualified lawyers, including those who are returning to the profession after a career break or looking to change direction. I have also worked with a number of final seat trainees, helping them to navigate their way through the NQ process. I find working with individuals to achieve their career goals hugely rewarding.
My recent projects have involved supporting university students through mock assessment centre exercises and running legal sector career workshops for school age students.
“Before meeting with Jane, I found legal applications incredibly difficult. I never knew where to start and struggled to find a concise structure when approaching applications. Jane provided me with a formula that I could adapt for each application and helped me focus my research for each firm. I cannot thank her enough for such an informative and insightful call. I feel so much better about tackling applications now and have taken so much from our meeting. Before you start any vacation scheme/training contract application I would suggest speaking to Jane first, her insight and experience is truly second to none.” Aspiring solicitor and final year law student
