Many lawyers enter the legal profession as career changers and / or mature applicants. And as far as I’m concerned, age shouldn’t be holding you back from pursing a career in law. Saying that, training as solicitor can be a daunting prospect with the route to qualification long and complex, whilst places for training contracts or qualifying work experience remaining fiercely competitive. Indeed, with the introduction of the new Solicitors Qualifying Exam, pathways into law have never been more confusing. If you’re a career changer or mature applicant, either thinking about re-training as a lawyer or already part-way through the process, and feel stuck I can help you move forward and successfully manage the transition.
Who is this for?
Mature candidates / career changers aspiring to re-train as solicitors
What’s involved?
1 x Zoom session lasting 90 mins each
During your one-off 90-minutes virtual careers consulting session with me you’ll gain an objective overview of the legal sector and inside information on different employers and indeed law schools, enabling you to gain clarity on which route to qualification is best suited to you. I can also share tried and tested methods to help you devise a robust job search strategy to enhance your chances of successfully bagging a training contract, paralegal role or other form of qualifying work experience. For clients who are yet to decide whether or not a career in law is a realistic option, I’ll walk you through what’s involved and if appropriate give you a steer on what to do next. Whatever your reason for booking a session, you’ll certainly leave it feeling inspired and more motivated.
If your needs are more complex I may recommend a more comprehensive coaching package comprising a series of sessions spread across 3-4 months.
