About our founder - Sanu
Our lives are stories.
My life so far has been pretty interesting and like most people I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs. On a positive note, I’ve enjoyed a successful career in global banking for the past thirteen years and continue to hold a senior role to this day and hope to share some of my experiences with you.
But I’ve overcome some challenges too, almost immediately after graduating from university in 2000 I was struck with a life altering illness, which ultimately changed the entire course of my journey. Never one to be beaten, I quickly fought back – with a lot of will, determination and plenty of grit I successfully pulled through and secured my first banking role with Barclays in 2007. Having left in 2013, I joined my second bank where I have moved up the ranks quickly and am currently based in Canary Wharf.
The whole experience taught me some very valuable life lessons such as the importance of resilience and perspective – lessons that are worth sharing. Now it’s time for me to take the next step and turn the page.
Over the years I’ve become increasing interested in human potential, diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace. This has become particularly close to my heart given my Asian heritage and I really want to encourage you all no matter who you are, where you come from or what you look like to put yourselves out there and get involved.
Working in an international setting I’ve benefited from meeting all sorts of people here in London and through my travels. Every person had a story to tell about how they got to where they are, many of which were truly inspirational. I also have the privilege of meeting some talented young professionals through the various initiatives and organisations I’m involved with, helping them to identify and utilise all of their skills and in doing so write the first chapters of their life stories.
I truly believe we all of have untapped potential, sometimes we just need a nudge in the right direction or a little bit of encouragement to help us shine. That’s what CheekyLittleCareers is all about, helping you reach yours.
And because it’s not just about my story, we’d also like to hear yours and would welcome contributions from guest bloggers. So, if you’d like to have a go at writing content for us please feel free to email: firstname.lastname@example.org with a brief synopsis. We’re particularly interested in hearing from individuals who’d like to feature in the “Role Models” or “Letter to my Younger Self” sections as well as anyone who has successfully navigated a career transition or pursues unusual hobbies. Feel free to also submit your “Burning Questions” to us on the same email.
